Gunman at Missouri University

News

May 12, 2011 – A police chase led a man with a firearm into McNutt Hall at the Missouri University of Science & Technology campus. Apparently either the campus wasn’t marked properly with “No Guns Allowed” signs, or the gentleman just forgot that bringing a firearm onto a college campus in Missouri was illegal.

McNutt Hall has classrooms, offices and laboratories; luckily classes were out of session already when the incident occurred. The man exited the building and ran on foot, leaving the gun behind near the building. No students, faculty or staff were hurt and no shots were fired on campus.

The University was just plain lucky!

  1. They are so lucky that classes were not in session. Something like this could happen at ANY TIME and on/in any campus, shopping mall or any other place where metal detectors are not present with security personnel. – Yet there are still places that do not allow legally armed citizens the right to carry a firearm to protect themselves. In this day in age, if you can sue McDonalds for their coffee being spilt; why aren’t there more lawsuits against places that post ‘No Carry’ signs, and then fail to protect you on their premises?
